Norfolk has a way of connecting people who are meant to be friends. Very quickly after moving to our forever home in Norfolk, we stumbled across the most amazing deli and independent artisan food & drink shop, Fig & Olive. It fast became one of our favourite places to shop, and Fig & Olive's owner Rachel, fast became one of my favourite people too. Fast forward a few months and Rachel introduced me to Katy from Fabulous Food Finds.
Katy is not only a BBC Good Food Presenter & Writer and therefore so incredibly knowledgable and food and drink (I just love listening to her talk about food and the incredible artisan producers that she finds) but she is also such a wonderful person. I adore her and I'm incredibly proud to now also call her a friend.
Small businesses should always support other small businesses and Katy has always been an incredible cheerleader for both Norfolk Uncovered and our other business, Coastal Media. So when I saw Katy's Summer Tasting Box, I knew I needed to give it a try and support her too.
At this point of this blog, I now need you to forget that I've told you Katy is one of my friends though because I absolutely DO NOT want you to think in any way that this feedback on her business is biased. Because my goodness Katy's tasting boxes are incredible.
Pairing together her natural talent for finding incredible food and drink that you ordinarily wouldn't discover, with her passion for support small, artisan producer AND her incredible presenting skills, Katy has nailed literally everything when it comes to her tasting boxes.
Katy's tasting boxes are sent out every 3 months and you can subscribe for £39.95 per box (or just buy them individually every time they launch for £44.95 per box). Once you have one box though, I know you'll be subscribing.
We bought the Summer Tasting Box and did Katy's live tasting and had just the best evening. On the live tasting, Katy invites lots of the businesses featured in the box to come on the virtual call and tell you more about their business and product. As you know, I LOVE meeting the people behind the product and hearing their stories. Katy has such a natural ability to guide these 'meet the maker chats', you really do come away with so many interesting stories, facts and knowledge. They're also recorded so you don't have to join live but watch back any time.
Not only is the live tasting just such a fun way to spend an evening (Matt and I did it out in the garden with a glass of wine in the sunshine) but the products in the box. OH MY GOODNESS. We've already reordered two of them direct from the producers because we loved them so much and we've found ways to use literally all of them in recipes across the past few weeks and they were an incredible addition to everything we made. The value for money is outrageous too given how many things you get in the box and their collective RRP Vs the cost of the tasting box.
You can find a list of everything that was in the Summer Tasting Box on Katy's website here. There's still a couple available to buy and I promise you, it'll be one of your favourite things to do this summer watching the live tasting and trying everything that's in the box. All while not having to leave the house (or in our case garden) too.
